AUTO MANAGEMENT

This has been set to keep the webring running well, so that surfers can find their way round the ring easily, and not get error messages from inaccessible sites.

Sites that have been accepted for the ring continue to be welcome, but may get temporarily suspended because of technical problems. These sites are automatically reinstated as soon as the problem is resolved.

REASONS FOR AUTOMATIC SUSPENSION & HOW TO DEAL WITH IT

No recent changes to the web site

Suspension is rare once you have your code up and working, it is probably due to the server that hosts your site being down. Your site would be inaccessible, when the server is functioning properly it should be reinstated automatically.

Recent changes to the web site/different web host

1. Check that the URL registered in the webring system is EXACTLY the same as the page where the code ACTUALLY is. Registering your homepage and putting the code on your links page will result in the system suspending you. If you host the site somewhere else and leave your old URL in the system, you will also fail.

2. If you are using a forwarded domain name the original complete URL should be entered in the system. I have www.bonasdancesite.homestead.com/index.html NOT www.worshipdance.org

3. Check the spelling of the URL for errors, the system is also case sensitive!

Most suspensions are related to the system not being able to find the code, rather than a fault with it. If you have the code box with your correct ID no in it on your site it is unlikely to be the problem.

THE RING CODE

Invisible links in the code

The text in the code box automatically goes the same colour as the links on the page. If you have yellow/gold links, they will be invisible on the gold background!

To help anyone who has lost or corrupted their code I have put a copy below.

You need to substitute the three lots of red ** with your site ID, YOURNAME for the site owner's name, and YOUREMAIL for the required email address.
